TALK TWO
Supporting Mental Well-Being in the Workplace
Mental health challenges affect many employees — a fact that is usually overlooked because these disorders tend to be hidden at work. According to a recent MindShare Partners’ Mental Health at Work Report, 76% of US workers reported at least one symptom of a mental health condition. 84% of US workers believed their workplace conditions contributed to at least one mental health challenge.
It is critical that employers understand their role in encouraging, supporting, and maintaining a culture of mental health and well-being and the specific actions they can take to increase mental health and well-being in their organizations. By increasing awareness of mental health, its impact in the workplace and challenging existing stereotypes of mental illness, employers will be able to support their employees respectfully and responsibly.
TALK THREE
Leading by Example:
Enhancing Mental Well-being and Self-Care for Leaders
While their organizations have prioritized the mental well-being of their employees, leaders have often neglected their own mental well-being. Research shows that today’s leaders are experiencing an increase in mental health challenges more so than ever before. Too often, they have been expected to be superhumans and put the needs of business before their own. The stigma attached to having a mental health disorder is such that leaders may be reluctant to seek treatment for fear that they might jeopardize their jobs.
Work extends far beyond the workplace and often leads to compassion fatigue, burnout, and indifference. Mindful self-care helps enhance your physical, mental, and emotional health. This session will provide you with a self-care plan and other tips that can help you maintain optimal functioning in all aspects of your life as well as learn tips you can take to increase mental health awareness and wellbeing in your organization.
